Thomas James Homes Appoints Steve Schlageter As Chief Executive Officer
Leadership transition signals the next phase of growth for the category-leading homebuilder

Schlageter, who joined TJH as Chief Operating Officer in October 2024, succeeds Jamie Mead, who led the company as President and then CEO over the last five years, leading TJH to deliver over 1,400 homes and establishing it as the nation’s largest single-lot homebuilder. As part of a planned transition, Schlageter assumes the role as TJH continues to scale its integrated, end-to-end model.
As CEO, Schlageter will oversee TJH’s overall business strategy, operational performance, and long-term growth initiatives. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment for the company, as it continues to scale across its core markets in Arizona, California, and the Pacific Northwest while further refining a model centered on certainty, accountability, and customer experience. In the Pacific Palisades, the company is also taking on an expanded role in post-wildfire rebuilding efforts, already working with more than 30 families and investing in spaces like The Gathering Place to help restore community infrastructure.

Prior to joining TJH, Schlageter spent nearly two decades at PulteGroup, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of Operations and Strategy and Area President of the Northeast Business Unit. He oversaw national homebuilding operations across thousands of employees, led long-term strategic planning efforts, and drove measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and customer experience.
