Embarking on a homebuilding journey was really uncharted territory for us…I was really excited that I could personalize certain aspects of the home. The entire homebuilding process was simple and Thomas James Homes completed our home on schedule and within budget.
We were looking for new construction, and TJH just stood out. In the Bay Area, most new houses are made by national builders…Rather, we wanted a single-lot, new construction from the ground up, in a custom-made fashion. And that’s exactly what TJH offered.”
We couldn’t get (the home) out of our heads. We fell in love with the aesthetics from the front, but then when we came in, it was so appropriately laid out. Open, had a great feel. We noticed that the craftsmanship on the construction was much different.”
We absolutely love the Thomas James Homes team. It was incredible because there were a lot of very personal touches that we were able to make to the home. And we just really appreciated how patient they were with us because the whole process can be stressful. And we really liked how they just depressurized the whole situation.”

This was our first home and I didn’t want to make the wrong decision, so having the Design Team guide us through the whole process was really helpful.”
The design of the home and how they used the land was really smart…we have a big backyard and a big home with so much space, but the lot size isn’t all that big. We’re excited to invite friends over this summer and have our parents stay here in their own private ADU. There’s so much about this home that we love.”

The thing that challenged us about renovating (versus rebuilding with TJH) was the age of our home. The home had been built in the 1950s. It wasn’t built to last. It would have been really difficult to renovate it. We probably would have spent the same money for something not as nice.”
The communication (throughout our build) was great. We were given the timeline from the beginning. What to expect and at what point in the process. I was out of the country for a large part of the year, and it was not a problem because the communication was so good.”
