TJH is bringing new home solutions to Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Alamo, and other beloved East Bay neighborhoods.

“People that live here in the East Bay pinch themselves because it’s literally like a paradise.”

— Tom Reiser, The Reiser Group

With greater demand for East Bay living and an unmet need for new homes in established neighborhoods, Thomas James Homes is excited to expand our unique model of homebuilding solutions to communities throughout Contra Costa County, starting with Lafayette, Alamo, and Walnut Creek.

Expanding into the East Bay means more opportunities for homebuyers. Unfortunately, much of the housing stock in desirable neighborhoods is limited and often outdated for what homebuyers want or the way people live today. Our innovative solutions make it possible for homebuyers to attain a new, custom-quality home in a neighborhood they love by:

  • Building a new home on their existing homesite
  • Building a new home on a TJH pre-construction homesite
  • Choosing from a limited selection of move-in-ready homes

“In the East Bay, you get a more laid-back vibe, but all the amenities of big-city living, plus major forests in your backyard. It has the best of all worlds, and every place you turn is a different niche neighborhood, each with its own character and uniqueness. We want to add value to these neighborhoods and help the communities thrive. Good homebuilding comes with the responsibility of appreciating the uniqueness of an area and understanding people at the neighborhood level to learn how they want to live.”

— Jon Tattersall, President, Thomas James Homes, Northern California

Neighborhoods throughout the East Bay continue to gain popularity and attract more families, tech startups, and growth into the area. With more living space, sunnier weather, nationally top-rated schools, walkability, and an effortless urban-suburban lifestyle, it’s easy to see why the East Bay has become one of the most sought-after places to live. For outdoor enthusiasts, it’s a playground of countless hiking and mountain biking trails, summit overlooks, and some of the best wilderness parks in every direction. And it’s still a short 30-minute commute to San Francisco.

Where we’re building in the East Bay

Walnut Creek

Known as the Jewel of the East Bay, Walnut Creek is a tight-knit community that’s considered one of the best places to live with year-round activities, warmer weather, and exceptional schools. Centrally located and less than an hour from San Francisco, San Jose, wine country, and a handful of international airports, it’s a highly desirable place to call home for both young professionals and families alike. Walnut Creek offers the best of both worlds—a walkable downtown area, upscale retail, performing arts, and a culinary scene that’s typically only found in large metropolitan cities but without the frustrating traffic or lack of space. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike the trails up to the 3,849-foot summit and take in views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Mount Lassen, and even Yosemite on a clear day.

Lafayette

Named after Marquis de Lafayette, a French war hero, Lafayette is a family-friendly suburb next to Walnut Creek and a quick 25 minute BART ride from San Francisco. It’s recognized for its top-rated schools, oak trees and rolling hills, tranquil neighborhoods, and picturesque downtown. Lafayette is also known for its arts and music scene and offers a variety of events throughout the year, some of which include the Lafayette Art, Wine & Music Festival, Jazz workshops, the Lafayette Library Art Gallery, and more.

Alamo

Bordering Walnut Creek to the south, and nestled between Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Park and Mt. Diablo is Alamo. It attracts residents with a variety of dining and shopping options, picturesque neighborhoods, and outdoor activities in every direction. But another major appeal for families in this area is the amount of space that the sizable home lots in Alamo offer.
